Alumni Celebrate 25 years since the opening of Bravo!

On September 11, 2015, Bravo Medical Magnet High School and Lincoln Medical Magnet High School alumni got together at Monterey Hill for a celebration that launched the Lincoln/ Bravo Alumni Association.

Under the leadership of a pioneering committee composed of alumni and retired staff members, a night was planned, bringing together over 60 alumni and a dozen current and former staff members. All enjoyed a great buffet dinner, memories, and old friendships! Plans for future activities were discussed, and incredible commitments to build the Association were made by many of the alumni!

Gabby Cantero ‘87 and Linda Sanchez Rivas ‘88 opened the evening, giving the event the flavor of a celebration worthy of  the Knights. Each of the former staff members, who had worked with some of the alumni on the banquet, spoke to the group about the history of Bravo and its predecessor, Lincoln Medical Magnet, and shared plans for future events and reunions. Guests were invited to take a look at the poster boards depicting Bravo’s history and alumni through pictures, to sign up on the “Alumni Roster,” and to view the “Bravo Memorial” commemorating members of the Bravo family who had passed away over the years.

Among the plans that were presented were Class Reunions, fundraisers to support specific needs at Bravo, the establishment of a “Mentoring Program,” and a “Bravo Wall of Fame.”  The former Principal, Dr. Hernandez, and the current Principal, Ms. Torres Flores, called on the alumni to join the organization, and to become part of a network of support for the school they all love.

A photographer on site took pictures of the alumni attending the event. A video played continuously, allowing guests to reminisce and enjoy a look back at their time at Lincoln/Bravo. All in all, the evening was very successful!  Different “hubs” were seen at the different tables around the room. Alumni reconnected with old friends; friendships were rekindled; and a working committee was formed to further the work of the “Bravo Alumni Committee.” Next stop: to formalize the Lincoln/ Bravo Medical Magnet High School Alumni Association!
